Legal & Corporate Services
Legal Excellence with Dynamic Corporate Support
Running a limited company comes with a steady stream of statutory paperwork: annual filings, registers to keep, changes to report and, since November 2025, identity checks for directors and people with significant control. None of it is difficult on its own, but deadlines are easy to miss and mistakes end up on the public register.
Our corporate services are designed for owner-managed companies, contractors, landlords with property companies and start-ups that want their Companies House obligations handled properly by the same team that prepares their accounts and tax returns. Because we already know your figures and your structure, changes such as issuing shares, adding a director or changing your year end are joined up with your tax position rather than handled in isolation.
From entity formation to regulatory compliance, our comprehensive suite of legal and corporate services ensures that your business operations remain robust and legally sound. Choose from a range of specialised services, including:
Tailored advice on company structure and formation. Expert oversight of regulatory obligations, ensuring timely filings and adherence to statutory requirements. Guidance on corporate governance best practices, including board meetings and shareholder communications.
Serving businesses and individuals in Watford, High Wycombe and Park Royal, London — and remotely across the UK.
What’s Included
Company secretarial work is where we spend most of our time on the corporate side. Typical tasks include:
Limited company formation
Incorporating a new company with Companies House: choosing the right share structure, appointing directors, recording people with significant control and getting registered for the right taxes from day one.
Confirmation statements
Preparing and filing your annual confirmation statement, checking that your registered details, shareholders, SIC codes and PSC information are correct before anything goes on the public register.
Companies House identity verification
Guiding directors and people with significant control through the identity verification required under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, and keeping track of who in your company still needs to verify.
Shares, directors & PSC register
Share issues and transfers, director appointments and resignations, and keeping your statutory registers and PSC information up to date, with the right Companies House forms filed on time.
Year ends & dormant companies
Changing your accounting reference date where it makes commercial or tax sense, and preparing and filing dormant company accounts for companies that are not trading.
Incorporation & closing a company
Moving a sole trade or property business into a limited company and, when the time comes, voluntary striking off and dissolution once the final accounts and tax position are settled.
A note on scope: Accutax Services is an accountancy practice, not a firm of solicitors. We handle the company secretarial and Companies House side of running a business. Where a matter needs formal legal advice, such as a contested dispute or a bespoke shareholders’ agreement, it should be dealt with by a qualified solicitor, and we will always tell you clearly when that is the case.
Who It’s For
Contractors and new companies
If you are setting up a company to contract through, we can form it, register it for the right taxes and keep the annual filings on track. Our contractor accountancy service builds this in alongside IR35 guidance and salary and dividend planning.
Landlords and growing sole traders
Incorporating a property portfolio or a profitable sole trade is a significant decision with tax consequences on the way in. We model the options first, then handle the formation and transfer paperwork if it makes sense. See our pages for landlords, e-commerce sellers and CIS contractors.
Established companies wanting a tidy-up
Out-of-date registers, unfiled share changes or directors who have not yet verified their identity are common when a company has grown quickly. If you are switching accountants, it is a good moment to check your Companies House records are in order, and we can pair corporate support with bookkeeping and accounts and tax planning.
How It Works & Fees
Corporate work can be a one-off job, such as forming a company or striking one off, or an ongoing part of your monthly package. Our limited company packages already include the annual confirmation statement, and you can see what each tier covers on our pricing page.
For anything outside a package, we start with a free call to understand what you need, then confirm the scope and a clear quote in writing before any work begins. With over 15 years of experience, we will also flag any knock-on tax points so there are no surprises later. Get in touch to arrange a call.
Common questions
Do I need to verify my identity with Companies House?
Since 18 November 2025, identity verification has been mandatory for new company directors and people with significant control (PSCs). Existing directors and PSCs have a transition period, generally linked to the company's next confirmation statement. We can check who in your company needs to verify, explain the deadlines and help you complete the process.
Are you solicitors?
No. Accutax Services is an accountancy practice. Our corporate services cover company secretarial and Companies House compliance, such as formations, filings, registers and share changes. Where a matter needs formal legal advice, for example a dispute or a complex shareholders' agreement, it should be handled by a qualified solicitor and we will tell you clearly when that is the case.
Should I move my sole trade or rental properties into a limited company?
It depends on your profits, how much you draw from the business, your plans for the future and, for property, factors such as Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duty Land Tax and mortgage terms. Incorporation suits some people and not others. We look at the numbers for your situation before you commit to anything.
What is a confirmation statement and what happens if I miss it?
It is an annual filing that confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is up to date. It must be filed at least once every 12 months, within 14 days of the end of the review period. Failing to file is an offence and can ultimately lead to the company being struck off the register, so it is worth having someone keep track of the date for you.
My company has stopped trading. Should I keep it dormant or close it?
A dormant company still has to file accounts and a confirmation statement each year, but it can be useful if you plan to trade again or want to keep the name. If you have no further use for it, voluntary striking off may be simpler. Before applying, the company generally must not have traded or changed its name in the previous three months, and its tax affairs and bank account should be settled.
Can I change my company's year end?
Yes, in most cases. A year end can usually be shortened as often as needed, but extending it is normally limited to once every five years, and an accounting period cannot be longer than 18 months. The change has to be filed before the accounts for the current period are overdue, so it pays to plan ahead.
